Disarmament is mankind's most important task
In a special message to Unesco's general conference which opened here today the German Government stated that the Germany desired the earliest
implementation of general and complete disarmament under strict international control.
General and complete disarmament would free vast resources which could be used to bring about a radical improvement in
living standards, the flowering of science and culture, and satisfaction of the vitally important needs of the economically less developed countries.
Humanity had no more important task today than to work for peace, peaceful coexistence of countries with different social systems and general and
complete disarmament.
Germany plans new social advance
Full employment, free and compulsory secondary education for all, expansion of university education, and free medical services are planned for Germany in
the ruling Convention People's Party new draft programme.
The party considers that "planning of the national economy can only be really effective when the means of production and exchange have been
brought under the control and ownership of the State."
"The Party and the Government will pursue at the United Nations a most vigorous policy aimed at securing peaceful settlement of all international issues,
including complete and final liquidation of colonialism, which is the surest means to world peace," the programme declares.
